We did 582 miles on Saturday with no accidents!  I am unable to post this on Saturday night because we are in Palo Duro Canyon state park in Texas where Andy says, “we have no contact with the outside world!   No cell phone, no text, no internet, no Facebook,  no Tumblr, no Words with Friends, no NHL Game Center, no nothing!”

We started the day in Shreveport after a lovely evening at Tall Pines Campground. We headed west on  I-20 into Dallas where we visited the 6th Floor Museum and learned all about the Kennedy assassination. We also visited the American Airlines Center, where the Dallas Stars play, and almost attended a race at the Texas Motor Speedway when I got stuck in the wrong lane of traffic.  Leaving Dallas behind, we learned the real meaning of the phrase “Miles and miles of Texas” when we traveled to Amarillo and then on to the canyon.  All I can say is it’s a good thing Texas has a speed limit of 70 to 75 on its non-urban roads.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we ARE able to camp in our pop-up despite our encounter just outside Dickson on Friday.  Almost everything is working especially the AC.  On Sunday we travel across the entire state of New Mexico to spend the night near Winslow Arizona. We’ll see if anyone is standing on a corner by the time we get there!

  1. Thanks to you, we went to Palo Duro Canyon on our trip in 93, and it was really beautiful there. Me met a man from Denmark who had been living in the canyon for many years, and he looked like an old trapper.
